The thickness of a multiple order waveplate (Multiple Order Waveplate, Multiple Order Waveplate Retarders) is equal to multiple full-wave thicknesses plus a required retardation thickness. Multiple order waveplates are relatively easy to manufacture, but they are very sensitive to temperature, wavelength, and angle of incidence.
